Technical Overview:

The retina is closely connected to the central nervous system, receiving its blood supply from the same artery that supplies blood to the brain’s frontal region. Therefore, changes in blood flow, such as high pressure or swelling endured from a Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), can affect the oxygen levels in the retina.

Our retinal oximetry tool is instrumental in detecting concussions by monitoring changes in oxygenation levels in the retina. With its non-mydriatic design, our practical and user-friendly device allows for easy concussion assessment in various settings such as sports fields, military environments, and medical facilities. By measuring the oxygenation levels in the retinal tissue, we can assess the impact of a concussion on the brain’s blood flow and oxygen supply.

These measurements offer valuable information about the severity of the concussion and its potential consequences on the brain. By using our retinal oximetry device, healthcare professionals can quickly and non-invasively evaluate the extent of brain injury and make informed decisions regarding an individual’s readiness to resume activities or the need for further medical attention.
