Understanding Traumatic Brain Injuries and Concussions:

Around 69 million people worldwide suffer from Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) annually, costing $76 billion. TBI results from sudden brain trauma and often requires surgery and extensive treatments, adding financial strain on families. Disabilities vary, affecting cognition, sensory processing, communication, and behavior. Prompt rest and quick treatment are crucial for recovery and reducing long-term impacts.

Our Solution

Traumatic Brain Injuries (TBIs) are typically diagnosed through neurological exams or blood tests, requiring hospital visits. Our solution offers a portable field instrument for immediate TBI assessment, eliminating costly and time-consuming hospital trips. Designed for use in high-impact scenarios, it delivers accurate results within minutes, aiding athletes, soldiers, and the elderly. Our handheld device, enhanced with cloud analytics, provides unbiased, real-time diagnoses tailored to individual demographics, revolutionizing TBI management and care.

Our Solution and How It Works

In just 4 simple steps, our retinal oximetry provides a quick and effective assessment of potential traumatic brain injuries (TBIs):

  1. Hold the device up to the eye for a 5-10 second scan
  2. The scan takes a measurement of the patient’s blood oxygenation.
  3. This data is seamlessly transmitted to the Pleiades analytical engine, which creates a system generated score.
  4. Based on the score, the severity of the injury may be determined and used to determine the individual’s ability to resume activity or seek further assistance.
